Passport Application and Renewal Information

NOTE: Study Abroad will host a Passport Day on Thursday, 22 February, 2024 from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM in the Study Abroad conference room, Smith 215.

Passport application forms will be available for:
New applications - Form DS11 (applying for first U.S. passport, or were under the age of 16 when your last passport was issued)
Renewal applications - Form DS-82 (at least 16 when recent U.S. passport issued; can submit most recent U.S. passport with application)

Staff can take and process two 2x2 regulation sized passport photos to take with you
Fee:  $5 cash only (exact amount please)
We will offer guidance on filling out forms and how to make an online appointment for new applications with a local post office or passport processing center.

If the Office of Study Abroad grants you approval to submit an application to one of our host institutions abroad, those host institutions will require valid passport information during their application process (which can take place as early as February 2024). Therefore, the Office of Study Abroad requires that you upload a scan of your signed, valid passport to your Holy Cross Study Abroad application by 2 February 2024. If you currently have a passport, it should be valid through December of your senior year.
If you don’t currently have a valid US passport, don’t worry – you are still able to submit a Holy Cross study abroad application this semester. However, please read the following instructions and take action ASAP!
Please refer to for all passport-related information, including instructions for applying for your first passport, or renewing your current passport.

Important Note:  If you obtained your first passport prior to the age of 16, you need to apply for a new passport; do not do the renewal procedure.
